Welcome to "Voices of South Africa" - the 4th IFCM Multicultural Choral Conference!
The rich diversity of South Africa's cultures is matched only by its incredible variety of choral music! Singing together defines the "Rainbow Nation." The country's eleven official languages and four main ethnic groups make its choral music a bold journey of discovery: from polyrhythms and ululation to the isicathamiya style of the Zulu tradition, from the western-flavored Afrikaans and white musics to the colorful south-Asian roots of the Maly tradition, from the 'freedom song' repertoire to the country's new and vibrant choral scores and cultural expressions. Come join us in "Voices of South Africa", a choral safari of culture-in-song!
The
International Federation for Choral Music, in collaboration with the Stellenbosch
University International Choral Conducting Symposium, warmly invites you
to join with other choral conductors in exploring how the choral music of
South Africa is shaped by its various ethnic and cultural traditions. Our
home for "Voices of South Africa" will be the historic campus
of Stellenbosch University located in the famous wine region of Stellenbosch,
about one hour east of Cape Town.
"Voices
of South Africa" will have two tracks:
SUICCS and IFCM. The SUICCS
track will concentrate on musical skills for choral conductors. For more
information on the SUICCS
track and its registration CLICK

of workshops, presentations, singing, and choral concerts based on the IFCM
"Voices" conference themes.

interaction, participation, and dialogue. Register early!
